The Story of 'Saya Anak Malaysia' Camp

1st November 2010
I'm so excited! I can't wait to go to this camp, 'Saya Anak Malaysia'. The objective of this camp is to bond the various races in Sabah. Actually, I wasn't chosen to go to this camp, it was sort of a 'last minute' thing. The girl who was being chose do not wish to go, so she asked me if I was interested. At that time, Georgina was beside me, she asked me to accompany her, so I made up my mind to go. I past up my entry form this morning to teacher. The bus arrived around 11:35am, before making our way to Kuilu in Tuaran, (where the camp is being organized) teacher took a picture of us. Too bad, I didn't brought my camera along with me :(  so there isn't any pictures of us during the camp...[T_T]
We reached the camping site around 12 noon. We were not the only students who reached the camp site, there were other students from different schools too, so when we took our first step into the hall, it's like we were 'The Stras' from other planet. (XD__perasaan) Why I said this, it was because I can felt that all eyes turned toward our direction. We registered ourselves at the registering counter and waited for the others to arrive.
We start our 'Camp Craft' activity around 2pm. The motive of this activity is to show us on how to build our own tent. I can't wait to build our tent by ourselves (the four of us, GIRLS) Well, I had been to camp like this before, but usually the tents were built by boys. I never had the chance before to build my own tent.
After the ' Camp Craft' activity, teacher gave us each group a tent. We went to the field and start building the tent. Even without boys, we built our tent successfully. :D
When every group had finished building their own tent and was announced that we could take our bath, Georgina and I went to the girls' bath room and took our shower. The bath room....uuurrggghhh...it was very kampung style. After our bath, we went for our high tea. The food was not bad, yummy...
We were being called to the hall when we were in our tent, talking to my friend on the phone. We settled ourselves in groups according to our school. Then, we were divided to 20 different groups. I was in the 6th group. We were asked to get to know each other, such as our names and from what school. After getting to know each other, we were given a long-sleeves shirt and a white cap. Oh ya, before our 'Camp Craft' activity, each one were given a beg. There were all sorts of color. Georgina and I decided to take light-blue color, while Rodhiah and Mirza took brown color.
We went to bed, I mean sleeping beg in our tent around 12midnight. I was so exhausted but I couldn't sleep, cause I was excited for the next day.
PS: Before going to sleep, Georgina actually cried because our phone were seized by the teachers
2nd November 2010
We woke around 4:30am. I can feel that my back hurts, because of the place where we slept. Ouch! I didn't slept well last night. Some Muslim students took their bath and went for their morning prayer. For the non-Muslim, we were suppose to go the canteen for our Moral class, but Georgina and I didn't know that. We knew it after they start, so we decided not to go and went back to the tent to continue sleeping...ZZZ...
We woke up around 5am and went for our breakfast. The next activity after breakfast was suppose to be 'Malaysia Cergas', but due to the weather, which was drizzling at that moment, we skip that activity and assemble at the hall. We were told that there will be a change of activity. We will be going for visitation to UMS Aquarium, 1Borneo and museum. First stop was UMS Aquarium. Mirza took some pictures.
There were so many beautiful and amazing sea creatures I never seen before. While seeing these sea life, I thanked God that He made this world, so colorful, so unique. I learn how to thank God for everything He blesses me with. First, He blessed me with a soul, a spirit and a body. Then, He put me in a family to love me and friends to care for me. I should appreciate them and not waste my time on useless things. Here are some chorals and star-fish we saw in the UMS Aquarium. WOW, I can tell you that the chorals....were gorgeous! Usually, you only get to see colorful chorals in the television, but this time, I had a chance to see the real thing that we normally watch in the TV.
Our last destination for today was to the Sabah state museum-boring place. I mean I like to go to museums and read about the history facts but I had been to Sabah state museum many times, so it's sort of boring to see the same old things. I'm not the only one who felt bored about this place, Georgina has the same feeling too. So, we didn't went for the talk they (people who work in museum) gave. XD When the others were told that they could visit the museum, Georgina and I went to the gift shop.
After a few hours in the museum, finally we can go back to the camp site.
On our way back to the camp site, the bus-driver turned on 'Kungfu Panda' for us to watch. I wasn't interested because I watched it before, so I continued my 'beauty sleep'. I was quite caution with the way I sleep bacause the person sitting next to me was the opposite gender of me! =_=|||
We reached our camp site half an hour later. As usual, Georgina and I want to be the first to get clean-up. We took our bath while the others went for high-tea. We felt fresh and clean after having a 'cold-watered' bath. We skipped the high-tea and headed to our tent to take some rest.
We went to the canteen to have our dinner. I was as hungry as a wolf and gobbled up everything on my plate. Nothing was left on my plate, not even a single rice.
After our dinner, we gather in the hall. A teacher gave a talk about the activity tomorrow. Then, teacher taught us some basic steps of different dances for the malam kebudayaan.
We went to bed when the teacher told us to. We were exhausted that we felt asleep as soon as we cuddled ourselves into the sleeping-beg.
PS: this time, I cried. Well ,not sure why I cried during the lunch break

3rd November 2010
Hurray! Today will be our last night sleeping on this hard and uncomfortable 'grass-carpeted' floor. We will be leaving tomorrow.
